I have Piccolo at about 1,800 or something. The team can defiantly take him out while working as a unit.
What is the relation of the earthlings?
Last time i checked I had Yamcha @ 1,260, Krillin @ 1,300 and Tien @ 1,400, something like that. Humans are at a noticeable disadvantage power wise but it's not big enough to rule out a victory for the 3 working as a unit.

Hm, Piccolo appeared to brace himself (or at least shield himself from the light) for Krillin's scatter shot, while everyone else flew or ran away. Krillin seemed frightened by Piccolo's mouth blast that completely disintegrated the Saibaman that attacked Gohan, though, so that says something.

But Piccolo was in shock that Nappa survived the Kikoho.

I don't think the team could do it. They're all well-skilled, but Piccolo is more ruthless here than he appears later in the series, and hadn't yet developed a fondness for the others like he had for Gohan. He wouldn't hesitate to drop one of them with a Makankosappo (that he fired off in seconds against Nappa) or a mouth blast. I don't think he would be taken by surprise as much as Nappa was either, being a smarter and more mindful fighter.

I don't remember that, are you sure it wasn't filler?

It was when their plan to bombard Nappa failed due to Gohan freezing up. Piccolo fired a Makankosappo (or what looked like one) and Krillin fired a Kamehameha.

I dunno, it's fired completely differently, the hand positions needed to fire blasts remain pretty consistent in Dragon Ball. Plus it looks far too big to be one.

I agree for the most part, but unless he has multiple attacks with that spiral design, it would appear to be the Makankosappo. Perhaps an uncharged one just looks like that. I don't know.

I guess it could be a modified version, but based on the size it seems unlikely this one would be made for piercing. I also feel like if Piccolo had perfected the move that was so important a few chapters ago, much less made an improved version, some attention would be drawn to it. In fact it seems to be the opposite case here, the move is presented to be a hasty attack thrown together at the last second due to Gohan freaking out, you'd think if it had the same qualities as the original SBC he'd have used that straight away rather than relying on Gohan to blast Nappa.

Gohan's blast (whatever it may have been) > Piccolo's hastily thrown blast

It was probably a modified version, one not made specifically for piercing, but for brute force of sorts. We never see how it would've done against Nappa (probably failed), but for now it appears that's what it was. If it didn't have the spiral design I wouldn't think twice about it.

Izanagi!

None of his other generic beams/blasts have a spiral effect, do they? Maybe Toriyama tried it out as a design thing to make Piccolo's attacks unique but scrapped it afterwards? Either way, it's barely charged, so there can't be much of an amp for it.
